Poderi Gianni Gagliardo: tradition, respect, purity of expression
When you are so lucky to be born in a place where the best Nebbiolo grapes grow, you know that this is not enough: you need passion, dedication, research, innovation and a great respect for the soil. Gagliardo family knows it well and has always been committed towards this direction since 1847 until today with the last generation represented by Stefano, Alberto and Paolo. We’ve had the chance to meet Paolo, the youngest Gagliardo who welcomed us into his family farms with great enthusiasm and professionalism, telling us a story of excellence.

The Cellar | Three souls: Barolo, Roero and Monferrato, indigenous vines that reflect the character of native soils, the philosophy of ‘microvinification’ that divides the vine into micro batches according to grapes characteristics followed by separate several harvests; the search for purity, for the highest expression those grapes can give, in order to make a meticulous selection and transfer exclusively an excellent product into the bottles. Fermentation process takes place inside the historic cellar - particularly impressive - located in La Morra village, in the heart of Langhe region and the best crus.
The Tasting | They reserved for us an elegantly arranged room with a view on the cellar, where we made a journey across space and time: Nebbiolo’s terroirs, a tasting of 4 references with one Nebbiolo and 2 Barolo wines 2016 vintage to end with a Barolo Reserve Preve 2005 vintage, the highest expression of that search for balance and refinement that marks the company. Honesty, simplicity and authenticity are the characteristics that impressed us the most during the visit: the honesty to launch on the market only the best wines, the simplicity of Paolo who conveyed all the enthusiasm and passion they have while producing these wines and the authenticity of his smile, the same one of many other Italian families who give life to excellent Italian products appreciated and awarded all over the world.
