KENYA
Close your eyes and think back to your holiday in Kenya for a second; what do you see first? Our answer: its colours.
We see the turquoise of crystal clear sea from the beach, the red soil from a jeep during a safari, the hypnotic prints on women clothes at the market.
Then we can hear the night animal sounds from our lodge room in the middle of savannah and the children laughing and singing at an orphanage we visited.
We finally think back to those grilled lobsters taste we ate on a boat next to a white sand atoll and those juicy fruits with that different taste, more authentic.
It's hard to think back to Kenya and don't start smiling: it's one of those trip you'll always remember as a formative experience, feeling like you have learnt something new and left there a part of you.
This is Africa lesson, such a hard and wild continent but deeply human at the same time.
Where to stay
We have chosen to stay at Seven Islands Resort in Watamu, a small town on the coast north of Mombasa, close to Malindi. Our 'all inclusive' experience has been quite positive and that's why we feel to recommend it to you: resort was clean, well-groomed and placed on the best spot of the beach, in front of Love Island you can reach by feet during low tide.
Thanks to low tide, every morning from the same beach you can dive into a caribbean sea and six hours later walk in water up to ankles to explore the seabed treasures like starfish, crabs and colorful puffer fish.
The resort has a private beach reserved for hotel guests, supervised by one Masaii: out of this restricted area, along the beach and in the sea you will be literally surrounded by Beach Boys who will teach you songs, tell their stories and offer safari and boat excursions.
