Vietnamese metropolis seen from a cyclo tour
The best way to understand a city is to look at it very closely.
Take the time to study its shape, memorize colors and writings on the street signs, listen to the sounds and people voices, focus on the smells and be able to recognize and identify them later. Once stored in your mind, these impulses and sensations will remain hidden into our head forever and they will suddenly surprise us days, months, years later with a simple color or smell recall: we'll be there again in a second. The memories of this trip will live within us forever, renewed by little hints randomly evoked through the years from a word, a sound, a smell.
A cyclo tour in an Asian metropolis like Hanoi or Hue gives you the time to look at these cities with different eyes: you are alone, slowly carried by the traffic flow, often still and really close to people in the streets or on the sideway and you have nothing else to do but watching carefully, listen and feel everything you can. You can make your own memories and use your eyes to build your own idea and image of that city in your mind, to catch its real essence and decide to live it again and again in the future whenever you want once you're back home.
Here are some pics taken from a cyclo tour, to see those cities through our eyes. Enjoy our perspective.
